Former Baltimore Top Prosecutor Convicted on One Count

Greenbelt, Maryland

A federal judge has sentenced Marilyn Mosby, Baltimore's former top prosecutor, to time served. Mosby was convicted in March on one count of conspiracy.

According to court documents, Mosby and her husband, Nick Mosby, a former Baltimore City Council member, conspired to defraud the city while she was in office. The couple allegedly made false statements on mortgage applications and used campaign funds for personal expenses.

Mosby's sentencing hearing was held on Wednesday, February 22. She was sentenced to two years of supervised probation and ordered to pay a fine of $25,000.

In her closing remarks, Mosby apologized for her actions and said that she had "made mistakes."

"I knew that I was breaking the law, but I chose to do it anyway," Mosby said. "I let myself down, I let my family down, and I let the people of Baltimore down."
